Filmmakers & techies gather at VIZARTS to experience realtime motion capture with iClone and Rokoko

Last month VIZARTS Lab 1 was held at Aalborg University, in Copenhagen where students, directors, cinematographers, scriptwriters, producers, animators, programmers, designers and researchers got together for three days to explore real-time motion capturing technologies to create innovative cases for engaging storytelling. 

At the event Tommy Thore Ipsen, from World For Story Studios – showcased how his team is using iClone’s Motion LIVE mocap platform and realtime animation tools, with Rokoko motion capture suits, to create augmented reality apps that engage audiences.

Motion Capture Acting Workshop: Two Days of Training & Demo Reels

Creative Media Industries Institute (CMII)  hosts the inaugural Motion Capture Performance Workshop at Georgia State University in Atlanta, Georgia. The actors participating gained invaluable knowledge and cutting-edge acting skills necessary to perform in a motion capture environment. The two-day workshop – the only one of its kind originating in the United States – was produced by the College of the Arts Office of Educational Outreach and hosted by the School of Film, Media & Theatre and the CMII. Leaders of the workshop included Mary Emily O’Bradovich, professional actor with People Store and academic professional at Georgia State focusing on movement and acting, James C. Martin, professor of practice at Georgia State teaching virtual reality (VR) production and VR/AR Asset Creation, and Michelle Ladd, motion capture director, fight director and stunt performer with RE:Action Stunts and Broad-Motion Entertainment.

iPhone X Face Mocap – 12 Cool New Pieces Of Animation Tech At SIGGRAPH 2018

SIGGRAPH 2018 was held in Vancouver on August 12-16, and Reallusion is pleased to be featured by Cartoon Brew as one of the 12 Cool New Pieces of Animation Tech at SIGGRAPH.

Alongside with NVidia’s single GPU for real-time ray tracing,  StarVR’s new headset, A.I. in Allegorithmic’s Substance, Sketchfab’s new way of looking at huge 3d datasets and other industry new tech —  iPhone X Face Mocap was selected as one of the coolest new techs in the show.

Face tracking solutions using smartphones were part of several technologies shown at SIGGRAPH, but one that seemed particularly accessible was Reallusion’s LIVE FACE for iPhone X. When Cartoon Brew tried out LIVE FACE, a 3D character head moved and performed lip sync simply from our facial movements live in front of an iPhone.

ASIAGRAPH Reallusion Award 2018 Final Round Will Take Place on August 20th to 24th in Taiwan

48-Hours Live 3D Animation Contest  for Students to Win up to US $10,000 Cash Prize

The ASIAGRAPH Reallusion Award 2018 48-Hours 3D Live Animation Contest Final Round will be held in Taiwan on August 20th to 24th. The contest, which started in 2013, includes a qualification round and a 48-hour final round. This year the contest has been extended on a worldwide scale to include a qualification round in the United States, China, Japan, Malaysia and Indonesia. The contest is hosted annually by Reallusion Inc., a real-time 3D & 2D animation company.

After three months, the 2018 “Animation At Work” Contest for CrazyTalk Animator (CTA) has come to a close and the winners have been announced.

The event included participants from all over the world including; marketing specialists, animators, filmmakers, and graphic designers, most of who had little or no previous animation background but who were able to participate thanks to CrazyTalk Animator’s powerful yet user-friendly interface.

The “Animation At Work” entries were grouped into three categories – Comics, Business, and YouTuber categories. For each category, we chose 3 winners along with 3 Honorable Mentions. Over $11,000 in cash prizes was awarded to the winners, in addition to Vegas Pro and Affinity Designer software.
