Breaking Down the Complexity, One Layer at a Time

When people think about 3D Compositing, the first adjective that comes to mind is… complicated. Very complicated. As the thought of having to do 3D compositing brings concerns of having to combine computer-generated assets, with live video footage, complex lighting designs, synchronized real-time animation, and accurate camera adjustments.

To the everyday video editor or special effects artist, all this can seem a bit daunting, when in reality it is all but the opposite thanks to a streamlined suite of amazing software tools.

Super fast 3D Character Animation tool makes Unreal Designer’s dream come true!

So you’ve thought about video game development before, and you’ve done your research. You might already have an idea of the game making platform you wish to use such as Unreal, or Unity. But what about all the rest of the stuff you need to create?

There are tons of character libraries online but… your game is original, and you need an original-looking character to represent your game IP. How do you quickly create and customize your own unique 3D characters?  Where can you find loopable motion cycles?  Is there a place where you can find thousands of customizable 3D props?

Holding a torch in a dark cave.

All these are very important questions that every developer has had to answer. And the amount of tools, workflows and processes is so overwhelming that it often feels like we are left holding a torch in a dark cave. Hoping to stumble upon a beacon of light that can solve this asset problem…. alas, but there is a solution!

The Best Tool for Easy 3D Character Creation

creativebloq  Review

Character-Creator-Makeup

What’s the best go-to tool for easy 3D character creation?

3D expert Rob Redman points out that character creation is often a whopping project as it involves modeling a character from scratch, fixing textures, skins, generating and adjusting map channels, not to mention the meticulous task of rigging full body characters which can all be daunting and exhausting.

But… Rob has found an alternative and option for creating the fastest 3D characters that require no modelling nor rigging. A tool that can be quickly learned by a beginner, while being powerful enough for any 3D expert. This option comes in the form of the iClone Character Creator tool. Which  by the way, is 100% free.

Easy 3D Video Compositing with iClone

3D compositing has always been a challenge for video creators as it has been difficult to find, and master ,3D animation software with enough flexibility and ease of use that would allow artists to focus on their special effects, and not so much on the complicated process of actually working with 3D assets.

But with iClone‘s real-time capabilities, 3D compositing is somewhat easier since users can simply manipulate 3D objects, and animate characters in combination with video billboards, video textures, and video cutouts provided in popVideo formats. If you are wondering what popVideos are, they are basically transparent, cutout videos that are ideal for iClone 3D video compositing. Now, 3D compositing in iClone has been further enhanced with additional iClone content packs like the new Super VFX 200 pack, which is a collection of some of the best video effects from industry veterans – Digital Juice. The popVideos in this pack contain alpha masking information already embedded into their videos, allowing you to quickly click and drag them into your 3D scenes to integrate them into your animated projects.
