2018 was a great year for us at Reallusion, as it saw the maturation of iClone’s Motion LIVE mocap platform, along with the much anticipated release of Character Creator 3 for indie game developers, movie filmmakers, AR / VR creators, and animators alike.

CGSociety interviewed REPLICAS executive producer James Dodson and VFX artist James Martin, with a behind-the-scenes of the REPLICAS’s Film production. Read how Reallusion‘s ecosystem of tools drove the innovative previz, motion capture and postvis techniques at the heart of the REPLICAS movie.

VIZARTS Lab 1 was held at Aalborg University, in Copenhagen where students, directors, cinematographers, scriptwriters, producers, animators, programmers, designers and researchers got together for three days to explore real-time motion capturing technologies. At the event Tommy Thore Ipsen, from World For Story Studios – showcased how his team is using iClone’s Motion LIVE mocap platform.

My name is Phil, I am 30 years old and I from Germany. I started working on our game – Photonic Distress after meeting my colleague Irakli Gagnidze on the UE4 Marketplace. Dean Stobbart’s 442oons is a highly successful YouTube channel with over a million subscribers, that creates weekly-animated football parodies with songs and pictures. Dean saw a gap in the market that “no one had really done football cartoons before”, so he made his first video – a cartoon parody of Luis Suárez and Arsenal manager Arsène Wenger with the help of CrazyTalk Animator.

Mark Pleasant formed Small Wonder Studio (SWS) right out of college in 1973.
